GROOMING POLICIES
De-Matting Policy
In the Best Interest of Your Dog
-
Severely matted or tangled coats: Dogs will be shaved down. This is often the safest and most humane option.
-
Minor matting: May be brushed out at the groomer’s discretion and will incur an additional fee.
Health Concerns Associated With Matting
-
Matted coats can cause hot spots, skin irritation, and bacterial or fungal infections.
-
Parasites such as fleas, ticks, and even maggots can hide within matted fur.
-
Tight matting can pull on the skin, causing pain and discomfort.
Grooming Recommendations
-
Regular professional grooming every 4–8 weeks is strongly recommended.
-
Coat maintenance at home between visits is essential to prevent matting.
-
While our groomers take every precaution, grooming neglected coats carries an increased risk of irritation or injury.
Preventing Matting
-
We are happy to demonstrate proper brushing and coat-care techniques to help prevent matting between visits.
